REPORTING TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE
THE PURPOSE OF THIS JOB IS TO IMPLEMENT THE OBJECTIVES AND PROGRAMMES
OF YOUTH WORK IRELAND TIPPERARY, AND TO WORK WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO
DEVELOP AND DELIVER PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING
IN THURLES / TEMPLEMORE THUS SUPPORTING THE IMPROVEMENT OF QUALITY OF
LIFE OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
THE LEAD COMMUNITY YOUTH WORKER WILL:
* Work as part of a team to develop the provision of a quality youth
service and the development of integrated initiatives responsive to
the young people?s needs.
* Develop and deliver a work plan focussing on strategies to address
needs based on a comprehensive needs assessment for the area
* Target and engage with young people aged between **Apply on the
website** and **Apply on the website** years of age, particularly
those at risk, those experiencing disadvantage and those engaging in
antisocial behaviour and work to develop programs for intervention and
discussion, particularly group activities and group work programmes,
as well as outreach and detached work.
* As Lead Community Youth Worker in an augmented project between two
towns you?re a base will be split between Thurles and Templemore.
You will have lead responsibilities for provision of serves in both
projects.
* As Lead in the project you will have over sight over reports for
the project and responsibility for the overseeing of the programme
costs for the project.
* Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the daily service
in both Thurles and Templemore and will coordinate the staff team from
the UBU project.
* Take particular cognisance of the requirements of the project in
its augmented status in partnership with Tipperary ETB, DCYA
* Implement agreed action areas from the Youth Work Ireland
Tipperary activity programme, and support the development of
partnerships and interagency responses with relevant agencies,
community groups and projects in Thurles and Templemore.
* Support the delivery of the Youth Caf? in Thurles/Templemore
working with other staff to engage with young people and deliver a
drop in facility, which will operate out of hours and at weekends.
* Focus on capacity building for young people to encourage them to
shape and participate in their local community.
* Support the ongoing development of links between the formal and
non-formal education sectors.
* Document and assist in monitoring and evaluation of activities and
programmes as required.
* Participate in, and avail of, training and development
* Work as part of the staff team of Youth Work Ireland Tipperary.
This will involve participating in planning sessions, meetings,
reviews and helping with the running of the youth service in a
collaborative way.
SUPERVISION:
Support and guidance will be given on an on-going basis from the Chief
Executive. Individual supervision will be provided by Senior
management. Staff members may also have access to external
supervision.
HOURS OF WORK:

weekends is an essential requirement.
